Festival Theme for 2024: My Community

Film Festival Rules and Terms:

  • Film submissions can be up to 7 minutes in length.

  • Submissions must involve two or more people working on the film.

  • Films must be screened for the first time at the Small Town Shorts Film Festival. They must not have been posted on social media, or screened publicly before.

  • Films must not include AI-generated content.

  • Films must have been created within Marmora & Lake, Trent Hills, Stirling-Rawdon, or Madoc.

  • Films must be suitable for viewers of all ages.

  • Films will be selected by a Jury for screening at the Film Festival. Submissions will be evaluated on originality, quality, and adherence to the theme of the year.

  • Submissions must be in MP4 format.

  • Submissions must include a fully completed submission form.

  • All submitted films must be an original work. By submitting your work, you hereby represent that all necessary rights related to the work (including but not limited to story, content, music, logos, performer likenesses and images) have been secured and you accept all responsibility and liability for any copyright violations related to your submission. STSFF is not responsible for clearing, publishing, performance or other rights for the short films it screens or promotes on its site or at the festival.

Categories:

The categories for the Small Town Short Film Festival are broken down into age categories:

* Directors Aged 12 and Under

* Directors Aged 13 - 17

* Directors Aged 18 - 64

* Directors Aged 65+

Note: while films can have participants of any age, enter your film by the age of the Director - the individual with the main creative control and vision for the project.

How To Submit Your Film:

Download a submission form or pick up a form from the Madoc Public Library, Marmora & Lake Public Library, Stirling Public Library or Trent Hills Public Library. You can submit your film via email (smalltownshortsfilmfest@gmail.com) or drop off it off on a USB stick with a completed form at one of the participating libraries. Submissions Open June 10, 2024
